About Us

Palo Alto Community Federal Credit Union (PACFCU) is owned by its members and run by a volunteer Board of Directors elected by the membership.  You can be confident that your financial privacy is a top priority of this credit union. We are required by law to give you this privacy notice, annually, to explain how we collect, use and safeguard your personal financial information.  If you have any questions, please contact a member service representative at (888) 971-7223.

 

Our Commitment to You, Our Member/Owner

We secure your privacyWe are committed to providing you with competitive financial products and services to meet your financial needs.  PACFCU will not share your personal information with third parties for their promotional use. However, under certain circumstances we may disclose your information with third party service providers, with other financial institutions who are our business partners, or as otherwise permitted by law. In all such cases, PACFCU controls what is being sent to our members and will share your information only under strict safeguards and after ensuring that the information will be used solely for the stated purpose.

PACFCU has limited relationships with third parties to assist us in servicing your accounts. These service providers are contractually required to maintain the confidentiality of the information we provide them. Additionally, we have business partners that provide services, some of which are co-branded, (e.g. VISA for credit and debit cards). When you request services provided in concert with our business partners you are permitting us to provide your personal information to the partner to fulfill your request.

PACFCU collects the following categories of information about you in order to process the products and services you may request. This information is not from a public source.

  • Information we receive from you on your application or other credit union forms, including name and general contact information, Social Security number;
  • Information about your transactions with us, our affiliates or others; and
  • Information we receive from a consumer reporting agency.

We may disclose your information if we are required by a law enforcement action such as court order, subpoena or search warrant.

PACFCU treats information concerning our former members the same way we treat information about our current members.

 

Your Privacy While Visiting our Website

Internet Privacy Statement

For web site security purposes and to ensure that our site remains available to all users, Palo Alto Community Federal Credit Union employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload to change or change information or otherwise cause damage.

 

Information Collected and Stored Automatically

For Web site management, information is collected for statistical purposes. Computer software programs are used to create summary statistics that are used for such purposes as assessing what information is of most and least interest, determining technical design specifications, and identifying system performance or problem areas.  No personal information, such as your name or address, is collected or used for this analysis. We collect no information that would identify you personally.


When you visit our Web site we automatically collect and store only the following information about your stay:

  • The Internet domain (for example, "company" if you use a private Internet access account, a "yourschool.edu" if you connect from a University's domain) or an IP address (an IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you are surfing the Web) from which you access our Web site.
  • The date and time you access out Web site.
  • The pages you visit and the result of the request, such as an image or query.
  • Other status codes and values resulting from the Web server responding to the request received: HTTP status code, Windows NT code, number of bytes sent, number of bytes received, duration (in seconds) to fulfill the request, server port number addressed and protocol version.
    PACFCU does not use "cookies." (A "cookie" is a file placed on your hard drive by a Web site that allows it to monitor your visit, usually without your knowledge).  You can set your browser to warn you when placement of a cookie is requested and decide whether or not you want to accept it.

 

Information Collected from Emails and Forms

When you personally send us identifying information, for example, in an electronic mail message containing a question or comment or by filling out a form that e-mails us this information, we use this information to fulfill or respond to your requests. We may store these requests to provide us with information for future improvements to our Web site. PACFCU may also use this information to help us do our work.  We do not create individual profiles with the information you provide. PACFCU does not give, sell or transfer personal information to third parties unless required by law.

 

How We Protect Your Information

We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to those employees and independent contractors who have a specific business purpose in utilizing the data.  Our employees are trained in the importance of maintaining confidentiality and member privacy.  We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations and leading industry practices to safeguard your nonpublic personal information.
